Terms and conditions Spain 2025

Spain 13th Edition

Saturday, October 18th, 2025

Objective: Design innovative product concepts related to bathroom and kitchen spaces.

Theme: The specific design brief will be announced on Saturday, October 18th, 2025.

Context: The competition aims to engage the community of young designers in the search for original, simple, and innovative solutions that improve user experience with bathroom and/or kitchen products, for both public and private spaces.

Additionally, the Roca One Day Design Challenge serves as a platform to promote, encourage, and foster creativity through an intense and fast-paced exercise aimed at a sector traditionally less open to innovation, such as bathrooms and kitchens.

Format: Roca One Day Design Challenge Spain 2025 will be held in a hybrid format (online and in-person). Participants can work remotely or attend the workspace set up at the Roca Barcelona Gallery. When registering for the competition, participants must necessarily register at the Gallery, even if they later decide to participate remotely. The maximum number of participants at the Roca Barcelona Gallery will be 200 people.

The organization reserves the right to increase or reduce the maximum number of participants at the Roca Barcelona Gallery, as well as to cancel the event at any time, should the situation require it.

Registration: Participants may register through the website www.onedaydesignchallenge.net until 23:59 (UTC+2) on October 16th, 2025. Once 200 people have registered, the registration period will close regardless of the date.

To complete the registration, participants must provide the following information and documentation:

  • Full name
  • University or company
  • Home address (street, city, and postal code)
  • Phone number and email address
  • Date of birth.

To finalize the registration, participants registering through Roca’s official website (www.onedaydesignchallenge.net) must upload all required information/documents before 23:59 (UTC+2) on October 16th, 2025. Any registration missing the above information will be void.

Only one registration per person will be accepted. Once confirmed, registration numbers cannot be changed. Duplicate registrations by the same person will also result in disqualification.

The competition is open to design students or young professionals residing in Spain, aged between 18 and 29, whose date of birth falls between October 19th, 1995, and October 5th, 2007.

Participation may be individual or in groups of up to 2 members, provided all members meet the above requirements.

The following persons are excluded from participating:

  • Winners of the first, second, third, or We Are Water Foundation Prize in previous editions of the competition in any country.
  • All employees of Roca Group companies and their relatives up to the fourth degree of consanguinity.
  • Winners of other Roca Group competitions such as jumpthegap®.

At 9:30 a.m. on October 18th, the specific design brief will be announced live at the Roca Barcelona Gallery and a printed copy will be distributed to all attendees. It will also be published online at www.onedaydesignchallenge.net for participants choosing to compete remotely.

The duration of the exercise will be from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and participants may work either on-site at the competition venue or remotely from any location they consider appropriate. All participants will be able to submit their projects between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. through the official website

Participants will find the project submission button in the "Spain 2025" section of the website. Clicking the submission button will open a new screen requesting the username and password created during registration. Only after entering these credentials will participants be able to upload their project files-

At 6:00 p.m., the jury will deliberate to select the winning projects of the Roca One Day Design Challenge Spain 13th Edition. The jury will select three winners, as well as first, second, and third substitute prizes, in case the original winners do not meet the conditions set forth in these legal terms.

At 9:00 p.m., the winners will be publicly announced (first, second, and third prize) and the awards ceremony will be held at the Roca Barcelona Gallery (Carrer de Joan Güell, 211, 213, 08028 Barcelona).

The jury will evaluate the creativity and originality of the proposals, as well as their feasibility, clarity, readability, and graphic design of the presentations.

Due to the current climate situation and Roca One Day Design Challenge’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, all submitted designs must address sustainability and water savings to be eligible for an award.

  • 1st prize winners will receive €3,000.
  • 2nd prize winners will receive €2,000.
  • 3rd prize winners will receive €1,000.

The jury reserves the right to declare any or all prizes void if, in their opinion, none of the projects demonstrate sufficient originality or sustainability, or meet the required quality standards.

The jury may also declare the prizes void if it considers that none of the projects incorporate the value of sustainability and/or meet the required quality standards.

At the time of being selected, the winners must present their ID card or passport to prove that they meet the criteria required in these terms and conditions (age and residency) before receiving the prize. If the competition organizers verify that the age and/or residency requirements are not met, the project of the person failing to meet these requirements will be automatically disqualified, and the prize will automatically be awarded to the next finalist.

The ID cards and passports received by the competition organizers will be used solely for the purpose described in the previous paragraph, under strict technical and legal confidentiality measures during the period required by law.

All prizes are subject to the current tax regulations. Roca Sanitario, S.A. will make the corresponding withholdings on account of the personal income tax (I.R.P.F.) of the winners. The taxes corresponding to the prizes — €3,000 for the first prize winners, €2,000 for the second prize winners, and €1,000 for the third prize winner — will be deducted from the respective prize amounts.

Prizes will be paid via bank transfer in euros. The prize amount will be subject to standard Spanish tax regulations.

To claim their prize, winners (or at least one member of winning groups) must be present at the awards ceremony (9:00 p.m. at Roca Barcelona Gallery). Failure to attend will result in forfeiture of the prize, though they will still retain their status as winners.

If, before payment, the Organization detects that any winning project fails to meet the conditions of these terms (due to lack of originality, authorship issues, etc.), the project will be disqualified, and the substitute winners will move up in the ranking. If there are no available substitutes, the prize will be declared void. Jury decisions are final.

Presentation: For the development of their projects, participants may use any manual or digital tools such as 2D or 3D software, models, photography, collage, etc. However, the concepts must be described and illustrated on a maximum of two A3-sized sheets.

The projects must be submitted through the website using the registration number of the participant or team, which can be found in the “Participants area” section of the official Roca Design Challenge website.
