Mediterrans, timeless accessories by Àlex Casabó

Àlex Casabò won the Spanish edition of the One Day Design Challenge in 2014, together with Enric Garriga, and his talent and entrepreneurial spirit, which were already visible at that time, have given results.

He launched Mediterrans one year ago, a brand of timeless accessories for young people who search for elegance and quality while appreciating esthetics and a good design. The creativity of Casabò, an industrial designer from Elisava and also a professor at this school, is reflected in his designs for Mediterrans: rucksacks, wallets, purses and iPhone cases, elegant and suitable both for men and women. The brand offers versatile and affordable products that don’t get old and are not submitted to the changing trends and whims of the market. It is oriented to the philosophy and lifestyle of the millennials, this group of young boys and girls around twenty and thirty who appreciate the aesthetics, good design and who identify with the new technologies. For them, Mediterrans proposes a day to day minimalist and functional designs, that are both modern and classic.

But Casabò’s business adventure does not end here, as he has just presented Laberinx, a platform game designed and developed by him through his own company Cosmik Games. The game is set in an abstract universe where the goal is to avoid colliding with asteroids and enemies. It consists of 4 levels of difficulty, unlockable from coins that are collected as you progress through four planets of the solar system: Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Neptune.

The main feature of Àlex Casabò´s work is his versatility as a designer. He has worked as an industrial, product, graphic, footwear and web designer. In 2017, he started teaching sketching and design at LCI School, in Barcelona and is currently working as a product and space designer at Trilope, as well as a freelance designer on several other projects.

Capsul 3, the project he presented to the One Day Design Challenge along with Enric Garriga, confirms his expressivity and talent to create proposals that are imaginative and formal at the same time. Modular, stackable and innovative, Capsul 3 is a prototype for public transportable toilets, especially useful in large public events, such as festivals, concerts, outdoor gatherings and so on. Creativity at its best, this winning entry at the One Day Design Challenge competition is proof of their talent and attention to details.
